FKA Twigs Announces New Album “MAGDALENE”

FKA Twigs’ long-awaited follow-up to her incredible debut album LP1 will be released on October 25th via “Young Turks.” Her previously released single “Cellophane” will appear on the album, as well as the brand new single she premiered this morning titled “Holy Terrain,” a more accessible “Trap” flavored banger that doesn’t sacrifice her unique sense of artistry. It’s sensual, it’s a tad bit dark, and it features a decent contribution from Future. About the album, Twigs says  “I never thought heartbreak could be so all-encompassing. I never thought that my body could stop working to the point that I couldn’t express myself physically in the ways that I have always loved and found so much solace. I have always practiced my way into being the best I could be, but I couldn’t do that this time, I was left with no option but to tear every process down, but the process of making this album has allowed me for the first time, and in the most real way, to find compassion when I have been at my most ungraceful, confused and fractured. Swans Announce New Album “Leaving Meaning”

Following 2016’s exhausting but enlightening journey through the body, mind, and soul we call The Glowing Man, “Swans” will return with their new album Leaving Meaning on October 25th via Young God Records/Mute. The album was written and produced by sole member Michael Gira with collaborations with Thor Harris, Norman Westberg, Ben Frost, The Necks, Baby Dee, Jennifer Gira, and Anna and Maria von Hausswolff. The band have also shared a new track off the upcoming album titled “It’s Coming It’s Real.” You can listen to the track below:

 

Portrayal of Guilt and Soft Kill Release Split 7”

On the heels of their fantastic new E.P. Suffering is a Gift, Punk band “Portrayal of Guilt” have released more music with the band “Soft Kill” on a new 7” via “Closed Casket Activities.” Portrayal of Guilt’s track “Sacrificial Rite” is a tumultuous howl of doom that blends elements of both Punk and Metal, whereas Soft Kill’s track “Tin Foil Drip” is a lush and melodic shoegazey tune. Bat for Lashes Shares New Song “Jasmine”

Natasha Khan has released another new track under her “Bat for Lashes” project titled “Jasmine,” which will appear on her upcoming album Lost Girls, which is set to be released on September 6th via “AWAL Recordings.” In true “Bat for Lashes” fashion Lost Girls is a concept album set in a “fully formed parallel universe in which gangs of marauding female bikers roam our streets, teenagers make out on car hoods, and a powerful female energy casts spells and leave clues for us to follow.” Her new track “Jasmine” is named after the album’s protagonist and much like her preceding singles is a lush synth-heavy joy ride that truly does evoke the feeling of roaming the streets at night. Girl Band Share New Song “Going Norway”

It’s an exciting time for “Girl Band” fans. The Noise Rock band have returned after four years with new music that’s scheduled to be released on September 27th. Following their previously released lead single “Shoulderblades,” the band have released a new track titled “Going Norway,” and with a new sense of rejuvenation, they’re pushing their usual anxiety-inducing, abrasive, and scuzzy style to the next level. Chelsea Wolfe Shares New Song “Be All Things”

Chelsea Wolfe is set to release her new album Birth of Violence on September 13th on “Sargent House” records, and following her previously released tracks “The Mother Road” and “American Darkness,” Wolfe has released yet another track titled “Be All Things.” Wolfe has revealed that the song is about “navigating the world as a woman, reconciling the soft and the strong, balancing the warrior and the goddess, and wanting to be everything and nothing at the same time.” “Telling stories through song allows me to explore so many facets of myself, so many lives within. Some days I want to be quiet and reach my roots into the earth, and some days I want to spring up from the ground and be all things,” Wolfe explains, and that concept is beautifully expressed on “Be All Things” with it’s acoustic guitar-driven Folk-leanings and atmospheric vocals. It’s looking like Birth of Violence will be a big departure from her previous “Doom Metal” heavy album Hiss Spun with more focus on stripped down “Gothic Folk.” You can watch the video for “Be All Things” below:

JPEGMAFIA Shares New Song “Jesus Forgive Me, I Am a Thot”

It’s looking like JPEGMAFIA is teasing a new upcoming album. This morning the experimental rapper shared a brand new song titled “Jesus forgive me, I Am a Thot,” and it’s as uncompromising, loud, off-kilter as you’d expect it to be, but this track does offer an element of “Pop” and an “R&B” inspired auto-tuned hook that somehow fits amidst the chaos. Peggy has also said “The disappointment cums soon. Just a taste before I waste you.” Hopefully that means we’ll be getting a follow-up to last year’s Veteran. Tool Release New Song “Fear Inoculum”

It’s finally happening! No really, it’s happening. “Tool” have returned with their first piece of new music since their last album 10,000 Days, which came out 13 years ago. The track is titled “Fear Inoculum,” and it’s the title track of their upcoming album set to be released on August 30th. The 10 minute song sounds very much like a Tool song. It’s heavy, drony, tribal, and epic. Would you expect any less from Tool? It’s been a big year for Tool fans. BROCKHAMPTON Release New Song “I Been Born Again”

BROCKHAMPTON are back after what feels like ages since their last album Iridescence. Well, it hasn’t been that long, but in BROCKHAMPTON years that’s a long time to wait considering the prolific boy band are constantly active. Their new album Ginger is set to be released sometime this month, and the group have released the album’s first single “I Been Born Again,” which also has a music video to accompany it. Sleater-Kinney Share New Song “Can I Go On”

It’s been a rough year for Sleater-Kinney and their fans following the departure of drummer Janet Weiss, but Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker are without a doubt moving on and will continue to tour and release their new album The Center Won’t Hold despite this setback. We all know the band will persevere, but it’s still heartbreaking to see Janet Weiss go. Good news is we’ll be able to hear Janet Weiss on one more Sleater-Kinney album. The Center Won’t Hold produced by St. Vincent is set to be released on August 16th, and with what we’ve heard so far, it’s clear that the band have gone in a completely different direction on this new album, parting ways with the raucous raw energy of their early work, the Rock & Roll-tinged style of their later work, and the danceable grooves of their previous album No Cities To Love in favor of Art Rock balladry that sees Carrie Brownstein take up the majority of lead vocals. Their new track “Can I Go On” is quite possibly their most poppy sounding track by far, but the lyrical content deals with existentialism and depression which can truly resonate with someone who’s going through it.
